Lanzarote Carnival 2014

Lanzarote isn't just about year round sunshine, great food and drink. Carnivals are a big thing there and the locals provide excellent entertainment for all the family. The atmosphere is fantastic!

Lanzarote's capital, Arrecife, starts the carnival celebrations every year with this year's theme being The Olympic Games. The programme of events kicks off on Saturday 22nd February, Monday 3rd March sees the grand parade with the burial of the sardine on 5th March.

Currently, the only other council to confirm their dates for the 2014 carnival is Tias. The Puerto del Carmen carnival starts on Friday 7th March with the parade the next day, concluding on Sunday 9th.

The Lanzarote Carnival 2014 is celebrated during the forty days approaching Lent and it's a shame the carnival dates don't coincide with the UK's half term holidays as Easter is later this year.
